Driving is a great option if you want the freedom to explore Lake Como at your own pace. You can park at the Lenno car park, as Villa del Balbianello is accessible only on foot or by water. From the car park, it’s a picturesque 20-minute walk or a short water taxi ride to the villa.
The closest major airport is Milan Malpensa (MXP), about 75 minutes from Lake Como by car. From the airport, you can rent a car, take a private transfer, or use public transport to reach Lenno. From there, follow the directions to the car park or take a water taxi directly to Villa del Balbianello.
Lake Como is well-connected by train and ferry. Take a train from Milan to Como San Giovanni or Varenna. From there, hop on a ferry to Lenno. Once in Lenno, you can walk 20 minutes to Villa del Balbianello or hire a water taxi for a scenic arrival by boat.
